BR REA (Ex-VDA) London Transport Translator Vehicle No. 210152 in Red & White Livery (38-141K), the prototype of which was used as a barrier vehicle (also known as a match wagon) to allow locomotives to pull London Underground stock which had different coupling mechanisms. Although 'tube trains' generally operate only on their dedicated lines, when new, they would be transported around the national network on delivery and these movements required barrier vehicles like the one depicted by our model.
The model is based on our Bachmann Branchline VDA van, having a highly detailed bodyshell with precision moulded panel lines, door handles and mechanisms, and fine rivet detailing. At either end there is a seperate lamp bracket, along with metal buffers and a cosmetic coupling hook. The solebar includes prototypical detailing along with the door runners, whilst the wagon's suspension and brake gear are added using seperate components. The metal wheelsets are mounted on a pivoting frame, allowing this long wheelbase wagon to traverse tight curves with ease, whilst NEM coupling pockets are also incorporated.
This package comes with 2 vehicles*.
